Pimping..

..in all it's many, varied forms.

First up, [livejournal.com profile] elseware wants some test players for some game thingie wotsit he's writing/running/developing. Details can be found here. [livejournal.com profile] elseware has also offered to write any livejournal quizzes/haiku generators etc that anyone would like. He enjoys doing that sort of thing and gets bored easily, so go on, suggest stuff for him to do, if only to stop him creating more sites like this one and thus endangering his immortal soul even further.

*grins*

Next. [livejournal.com profile] jhava and yours truely are attending the Serenity Convention being held by Starfury. I'm pretty sure [livejournal.com profile] bigtitch is also coming with us, she just has to stop squeeing over Captain Jack for 5 minutes and actually book her ticket! The Con is being held from 18 - 20 November 2005 at the Raddison Edwardian Hotel in Heathrow. Looks like it should be a blast! Anyone else who wants to come with us, or is attending and wants to meet up, let me know in the comments.

Finally. You should immediately stop what you are doing and go and read the following:

The Predictive Value of Nouns by my luscious [livejournal.com profile] lastrega. This story is entirely my fault and is a result of the combined forces of alcohol, jet lag and all the unresolved UST of sharing a bed with [livejournal.com profile] lastrega and her amazing breasts while at HLWW6 in Sydney. Hopefully the story will make you snicker. Somewhere hidden in the usual shining prose is an idea about naming things and the naming of Methos in particular. This may lead to more, if I can persuade [livejournal.com profile] lastrega to write more. *waggles eyebrows*

Chasing Duncan (A Queer Comedy in 13 Parts). Another [livejournal.com profile] lastrega tour de force, hot, witty and pointed. Featuring a direct quotation from an actual conversation that someone I know had in real life. Should said person actually find out this has been used in a story I shall probably be killed. Like all good fic this also contains the obligatory Monty Python quote. Methos chases Duncan and Duncan eventually allows him to catch him. Wackiness ensues!

Like Patience On A Monument by the ubiquitous [livejournal.com profile] unovis_lj Kronos, Methos and a pillar. Absolutely cracking idea, written with her usual elegant style.

Companion Piece by my bountiful[livejournal.com profile] bigtitch The Ninth Doctor, Capt Jack and hot alien sex action. What are you waiting for, go read it now. I think I may have pimped [livejournal.com profile] bigtitch into the Dr Who fandom a bit too well actually....*looks vaguely scared*

Need The Doctor needs something a little different. *drools* No one writes PWP's better then [livejournal.com profile] bigtitch

Reunion I and II by the enchanting [livejournal.com profile] elistaire. Words cannot express how happy I am that [livejournal.com profile] elistaire is writing in the Star Wars TPM fandom. These two snippets are friends locked so go and friend her because they are some of the most beautiful, original and heart breaking writing this very talented writer has produced. She needs to write more. No really. MORE!

Clear Blue Sky by [livejournal.com profile] zekiel Chris/Ezra. You don't need to know the background or have even watched The Magnificent Seven to read this story and I would urge everyone to read it. A brutal and uncompromising look at the aging process and the meaning of love.

Nolo Contendere by the sparkling [livejournal.com profile] sidhe_woman. Duncan is in white and Methos in black. This writer's skill and deftness with language is something that continues to both depress and delight me in equal measures. Stunning as ever and with added snarky Marcus Constantine for good measure.

Stray Dogs by the scintillating [livejournal.com profile] shrift Oh gods I have been waiting for someone to write some Vicious/Spike fic! This is bloody, hard and curiously beautiful, infact, just like the protagonists. "There's nothing gentle about either of you, not in body, face, or mind. You don't even know what the word means until after you're dead." [livejournal.com profile] shrift nails both characters perfectly, as ever.

One More Cup of Coffee again by the genius that is [livejournal.com profile] shrift. This is like reading a cut flashback from the films. Danny and Rusty are such a married couple and [livejournal.com profile] shrift captures all the humour, familiarity and sharpness of their relationship and then some. There should be more Oceans 11/12 fic. Please?

Edit: Ask and ye shall receive. I just found Cookies and Ink on [livejournal.com profile] shrift's webpage. It's delicious and I am happy.

The Calfkiller by Cobalt. The first Vin/Ezra story which I believed. Beautifully written, well thought out plot and deeply atmospheric. The real strength of this story is in the little details.

Blow The Candles Out by Syal. House/Wilson. This story broke me in places that still have not quite mended. Tragic and hopeful all at the same time.

The Perfect Day by [livejournal.com profile] janissa11. Hilarious, hot and delightful Nick/Gil. If this story does not make you smile then you are officially dead. The telephone conversation in particular is a gem.

I am slowly catching up with all the great fic that is around, so I hope to be doing more fandom specific rec posts this weekend. These were the few that jumped out in my initial reading frenzy.
