I put on my detective hat, and while I *think* I found the fic I was thinking of, the page is now a dead link. But I did find an interesting HL/Vamp Chron fic which contains a very similar scene. It's good - good plot, good dialogue. Not completely perfect - a typo here and there, and she mispelled Kronos, for god's sake. There are some really good passages, and and the occasional LOL moment.
