the_emu for the new icon. Given all the hissing and spitting there has been on the various HL lists recently and given my *slightly* unwarranted loss of composure in "the great BDSM debate" I feel the icon is very justified.
I'm not sure what's in the air at the moment but the subject of BDSM in fic seems to be cropping up everywhere. Usually accompanied by posts which equate the practice with something just short of eating babies *sighs*
Repeat 1000 times. "I must not be gratuitously rude to fuckwits!"

It has however been a wonderful time for fic, which has left me *squeeing* happily and reading my twisted little heart out!
First of all the horrendously talentedhafital finally completed Crash Of Light the third and final part of her So Tonight That I Might See trilogy. As with all her work the pace is measured, the writing evocative and refined and the atmosphere electric. This is slash fic of the highest quality! You can't help but ache for Methos and Duncan even as you melt. Go and read the entire trilogy and then be sure to tell Hafital what a genius she is!
Then, Oh joy, Kaloo, Kalay, the legend of HL fic that iskillabeez first added some more chapters to Darkest Hour and then gifted us with Winter's End a post-Endgame HL story which made my throat ache. Connor was always, I must confess, my favorite MacLeod and this story is just too lovely to miss.
If that was not enough, then the luscioussapphiresmuse has *finally* completed Standing Outside The Rain. I've been waiting for this fic to be finished for a while and as usual the wait was well worth it. The story is tight and the historical flashbacks intriguing. Most importantly her Duncan and Methos are very real and you have the added bonus of a 'The Princess Bride' skit thrown in for good measure!
My darling Tray has also been busy with not one but two utterly delectable fics that I must rec. First up is Diosil which is clever, thoughtful, well researched and very different Methos/Duncan first time, with wonder of wonders, a well written Cassandra. *Then* there is That Which Remains which is a unique take on what happens when an immortal dies on holy ground. Its heart wrenching and hopeful, all at the same time, something that is almost becoming a trademark of Tray
Some of the other wondeful fics I've read recently haven't yet been put up on the web. One of my favorite authors, the incomparable Margaret has just posted a totally *awesome* Duncan/Methos/Kronos piece to HLCrossroads which everyone must read. As soon as I have a link I will post it! Oh and then there is the now infamous Gerbil!fic by my partner in crimebigtitch. I'm not responsible it was the voices that made me suggest it! ::grins::
The *very* best things however that I found in my inbox, were these:
1. More chapters of the *SogoodItHurts* Phoenix Fire by Chris Power. Yes rather stupidly the lovely Chris has decided to let me make 'suggestions' on the drafts. So if this genius piece of work starts degenerating into a Monty Python style farce you'll know who to come and kick!
Not that Chris would take any notice of me anyway, I hasten to add before the death threats come rolling in!
and;
2. *SMUT* by the Empress Of The Hot Sex Scene, the Mistress Who Moistens Knickers, the One, the Onlylastrega of Oz! *the crowd goes wild*. After much pleading she has written another part to the sex scene at the end of Kiss Of Shadows which is so good I had to go and lie down in a darkened room and take care of business after I'd read it. I know she will try and slip it into the web version with no fanfare, so *of course* I have to shout my mouth of about it!
What do you mean you haven't read Kiss of Shadows! Heresy! Call yourself a Highlander fan? Go read it immediately!
Infact go read all my recs and then tell all the authors how wonderful they are so they will make Evil Dr Em, a happy evil being and write more spangly fic for her to *squeeee* over!
