The Balance of Regrets

I'm very lucky! The rather marvelous Margaret has kindly agreed to allow me to post a short fic she wrote for the HLCrossroads list, which I promptly fell hopelessly in love with, in my LJ.

Why am I doing this? I wanted to get the story out to other people as I think its a gorgeous, dark, wistful bit of writing which should be admired.

Oh, and I also want Margaret to write more...
