*laughing like a loon*

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ias for pointing out this hysterical post I've just snorted fruit smoothie into my sinuses!

I love my country sometimes! The take over of the [livejournal.com profile] london_hurts com by various deeply sarcastic Londoners has kept me hugely entertained and is a definite antidote to some of the drowning-in-syrup stuff which has been posted. The group effort poem in particular, is a thing of beauty and wonder.

Funniest true story about the bombings. Mad Vicki texted me to confirm both her parents, who live in London, were fine. Apparently her mother, who works in an office next to Russell Square tube, was down in the basement at the time of the explosion and I quote "I heard some bangs, but thought it was the plumbing, so I didn't give it a second thought"

Yes, back from Rome. Had a fantabulous time. Work sucks. Will report more later. I do, however, have photographic proof that Byron was not killed by Duncan 'poet killer' MacLeod but is infact alive and well and owns a shop selling men's shirts in Rome. Said shop is at the base of the Spanish Steps and right next door to the house in which Keats died and Shelley and Byron stayed. I kid you not!

Rome is full of very beautiful people. The men in particular are some of the prettiest I have ever seen. Many adorable gay boys holding hands too. Obviously this was not in the Vatican dominated bits. They were just full of nuns. I had to fight an overwhelming desire to growl "Nuns, no sense of humour," at some of them. I didn't, I hasten to add, but I was tempted. I thought getting thrown out of St Peter's for nun baiting was probably pushing the 'I am Teh EVIL' routine, a little bit far.

CSI finale is one tonight! *Squeeeeeeeeeeee* At last I shall be able to read all the gorgeous post finale Nick/Gil fic. Yay!

[livejournal.com profile] sinden THANK YOU for the dvds. I shrieked with delight when I opened the package and frightened the cat badly. Do let me know if there is anything I can send you in return? I know I owe you Mag7 recs.

In other news [livejournal.com profile] lastrega and I (as part of our continued plan to conquer the world with porn) have decided to re-start a slash fandom. We both feel that not enough luuuurve is being shown to that throbbing epic of 80's UK tv known as Robin of Sherwood. I have already done some pimping of this series to [livejournal.com profile] bigtitch, [livejournal.com profile] jhava, [livejournal.com profile] crowie and [livejournal.com profile] sidhe_woman as well as various others. I have all the dvds and am happy to send copies to those who would like to join us in our quest to re-awaken the ROS fandom.

Sings "Roooobin, do de doo, The HOODED Man"

Go on, you know you want to..

I am so pleased I'm not the only one to find some of the reactions from across the pond pretty crapulous. I've given up arguing with the bastards, but I'm still thinking 'tossers, tossers' - oh yes, in my secret thoughts, I am mocking the Yanks most thoroughly :)

Michael Praed...drool (though not any more, sadly). Jason Connery...ditto. God I loved that show. It was such a load of mystical crap, with the world's most haunting theme song. But slash? What about Robin and the wotsferface, red-haired bint? I was rooting for them! (Mind you, Robin was *awfully* camp, wasn't he?)

I never met a nun with a sense of humour. They excise it when they nunnify them. I know this for a fact, I was raised Catholic. That makes me an expert on nuns!

That comm is a delight, isn't it? Some of the poems are just gold!

Oooh, RoS I haven't seen that in years! I used to love it when I was, er, 13 XD

Bloody hell, that takes me back.... Yes, I can think of one or two '/' scenarios that presented themselves while I was watching it first time round... and <whisper it!> I even wrote a couple of short 'gen' stories.

Now I have the dvds as well, but I simply don't have the time to indulge. Yet. When I hit 65 and can retire, I'll have lots of writing time on my hands and lots of bunnie warrens to play in!

Mmmm. Robin and Will Scarlet.... Mmmm. (And I'm not even picky on which Robin).

Oh yeah, totally agree re london_hurts. Comedy gold. Even after just having watched tonight's news.

Have just been squeeing about Robin/Will in my lj. I really must write them sometime. I'm loving watching the whole thing over again.

Oooh, would be lovely if you did write some Robin/Will. I went looking for some stories for that pairing a while ago - I'm not certain why, think it was after running across a Robin of Sherwood fan site that brought back good memories of the series. Anyway, alas, I found precious little.

So, some stories by you will be *very* welcome.

Oh the angst. *g*

[identity profile] lastrega.livejournal.com 2005-07-13 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like I'm not the only one who should be writing Robin/Will. *poke poke*

Oh, I adored Robin of Sherwood, but the Soviet TV stopped showing it after the уз where Robin was supposedly killed, so I don't know if there was something there after this. Anyone is up to educating a poor victim of the former Soviet regime? :)

[identity profile] sinden.livejournal.com 2005-07-12 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
You're very welcome. I was getting a little worried because they were taking so long, but yay, you got them! :)

Thanks for posting the link to those poems 'oh evil one'! Snorting my cuppa tea. I spent time with my London born and raised mum helping her contact relatives to assure her they were okay. She's 82 and her memory isn't good, long distance dialling is beyond her. She lived during the blitz of London during WWII, so was quite upset when she saw the news. What an experience.

Mum: "Is it the Germans?"
Me: "No mum, terrorists, from the middle east probably or supporters."
Mum: "Oh my, we need to get hold of my cousin Tim!"
Me: "Uh...Tim passed away 20 years ago."
Mum: "Are you sure?"
Me: "Positive. We'll contact your cousin Joan."
Mum: "She's still alive?"
Me: "Yes, she and all her family live in London remember?"
Mum: "Of course I remember, but if she's alive why hasn't she called me in years?"
Me: "She called you last month."
Mum: "Did she? Well that's good or I'd be cross with her. Would you like some tea dear? What's that on the telly? London's been bombed! Oh dear we must call my cousin Time!"

(We eventually got it sorted out and all is well with family overseas. Very glad all those from from Britain I'm familiar with and their families are fine too.)

Haven't thought of the wonderful RoS tv eps for years! My girlfriend and I postively drooled over Robin and adored Will whom we always thought should just grab the pretty fellow and snog him in front of Marion. We figured Robin wouldn't mind one bit. The music was done by Clannad, I have their records, lovely gaelic group in more ways than one!

Oh squee, we spent AGES in the Little House of Poet Boys when we were in Rome. Clearly we should have shopped nearby too!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

[identity profile] bigtitch.livejournal.com 2005-07-14 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no you don't! You've already sicked Captain Jack and Doctor Who muses on me I am not getting involved in RoS!

Hauls slut!Methos and slut!Duncan out of the wardrobe.
Look you two, if you ever want to have sex again, you've got to stop the RoS muses [livejournal.com profile] evildrem's sending. Stand at the door and kill anyone wearing green, red, tights, have horns on their head, or have bows and arrows. Oh and anyone warbling mystic celtic-y music. Oh, all right, Bonny Portmore is allowed. You do know that's an Irish song, don't you?
Right, so stand guard. And remember, stab first ask questions later! Or no more nookie for you!
Methos and Duncan exchange glances and start sharpening swords.
