My 'puter at home done broke. For some reason it will not connect to the internet regardless of what browser I use. There is nothing wrong with my broadband as the laptop will connect by wireless fine.
ARGH! *looks at icon* Yeah, that's me..
This means I may not get to upload the latest episode of Holby City this week. I shall be trying various things this evening to fix the damn thing so please send good and helpful fix-computer vibes in this direction. Any suggestions as to what has caused this and ways to fix it gratefully received.
Meanwhile I am contemplating installing Azureus on the laptop so I can download the latest episodes of BSG and Rome before I go insane!

Hopefully there's a 'puter savvy person near you.

- as trivial as it sounds - have you checked the LAN cable?
- could be the firewall - I had similar problems after installing a new version of my firewall (when I reinstalled and checked all the settings manually everything was fine)
- not really helpful, but to be sure whether the problem is with the connection or the browser/protocol, you could try connecting to the internet some other way; i.e. sending a ping (open command prompt, type in "ping www.someURL.com" + enter, wait for response), ftp, ssh/telnet...

If you don't get it fixed soonish, I'll do a small file copy of Holby along with my usual big file one and upload both, and then send you the link for your usual distribution. Hopefully that'll do in a pinch :)
