Given the rumblings about content which LJ are making I have sorted out my various other journals and updated my profile here on LJ with all the other various places you can find me. Please come and friend me at will or leave comments on this post with your other aliases.

Out of the other journal systems I like Insane Journal the best so have created a journal over there under the name 'evildrem' and will use that as my main back up and am going to look into mirroring posts over there.

I am not planning on moving at the moment as I like LJ and I am settled here. I plan on waiting to see how (if at all) this new policy is implemented and also which way fandom jumps.

I only just created an InsaneJournal, and I've done absolutely nothing with it yet, but I'm beeej over there, too.

Like you, I'm not planning on moving over either. But I agree the only prudent thing to do is to have a little bolthole created and ready should things go mad around here.

You'll find a Jhava over at Insane Journal :D I've already friended you.

I am planning to 'move', in that I'm going to use other journals (which one depends on where my fandom jumps, if at all) and post links from my LJ to the actual posts - as, like most, I don't expect this to actually cause the majority of folks to move.

I deeply dislike the way that 6A is doing things and dont want to support it.

xtricks is my name in both IJ and GJ, should you wish to know.

I am, apparently, totally out of the loop but a lot of my f-list is talking about this. What is LJ doing that has everyone wanting to move?

It's the new policy on posting content

You can find more about it and relevant links in this post here (http://malnpudl.livejournal.com/380394.html)

Thanks for this. As a lawyer, I think this is a good thing, despite how it will adversely affect some. If LJ permits people to write underage sex they are, by implication, guilty of promoting child pornography which is a federal felony with a wide range of implications. As distasteful as it is to be censored, in the long run such policies will protect all writers in other fandoms. Unfortunately, those who want to write Harry Potter fiction and the like will have to write in non-traditional forums where they take their chances.

While I sympathise with LJ..

..I'm afraid that as a lawyer as well I have to say I think it is a very bad thing. At the moment they are refusing to draw a line between writing about fictional characters and reality. That's a very thin end of the wedge to be at.

I for one do not want to see people censored for writing minors having sex, which in this case they are taking to mean anyone under 18. I'm also concerned about where they will stand with 16 years olds writing about other 16 year olds having sex. Something I see occurring in anime fandoms a lot.

I am hoping that LJ will not enforce what they have stipulated regarding content but instead use this to get the few people who really are a danger to children. Unfortunately I suspect that it will be used as a stick to beat everyone with and will simply result in fandom moving over time to other venues.

Re: While I sympathise with LJ..

It is an interesting point you make regarding fact vs fiction. One that is being debated with regard to photography that solicits over-aged models to play under-age children engaged in sex and is clearly marketed to pedophiles. The age of the writer, I'm thinking, would only be relevant with regard to legal sanctions... ie it is not a felony/misdemeanor to solicit underage if you are underage. This area is becoming increasingly murky it seems. I'll have to wander over to fandom lawyers and see what's being said.
