I'm also hooked on True Blood. I'm not Em (clearly) but I can tell you why I watch it.

Good about it?

A vampire show on HBO.

I.e it seems to have the potential to be Oz rather than Prison Break if you know what I mean.

but yeah, really it's quite different (so far anyway) from the other vamp shows I've seen (no one is a private detective!) and it's all set in Louisiana and with the accents to go with it.

The world building is intriguing (vampires come out of the closet because there's synthetic blood "True Blood" they can buy so they're not reliant on human blood anymore) the blond heroine is not a teenager (yes!) and she's not daft, the vampires actually look rather dead when not well fed and are quite creepy, this includes the main lead vamp. And yes, he's called Bill, which again scored some brownie points from me.

There are also a lot of kickass characters I'm really happy to watch..

It's not a show for everyone and the things I like about it may be exactly the things that someone doesn't like about it. But yeah, it's well worth giving it a shot.

I see that it's on tonight, so I'll tune in. The problem I've had is that I've read some of the books it's based on, and things that I've read about the television adaptation have made me think bad things. But since you and Em are both enjoying it, and I respect both of your opinions a lot, I will squash my preconceived notions and check it out tonight. I'll let y'all know what I think later. :)
