As some of you who follow me on Facebook already know, I ended up in A & E on Sunday after waking up at 6am with excruciating stomach pain which then progressed to repeated vomiting. Long story short, I more then likely have gall stones.
I have an appointment to have an ultrasound scan on Monday afternoon and the results will be looked at there and then and plans made to deal accordingly.
Given the number of medically inclined people on my flist I thought I'd ask here about what I should expect in the way of treatment? Also, at the moment, I am getting by on a large amount of painkillers and eating very carefully. I have had one more episode since Sunday of pain/vomiting but on the whole everything is manageable provided I am careful and keep taking painkillers. Is this okay or should I be making more of a fuss/worrying? I ask this because I am extremely good at ignoring discomfort and this has on occasion got me into trouble.

I hope this is at least a little bit helpful...
Was a short and uncomplicated thing - less than an hour in surgery and a four days stay at hospital, after that four weeks at home, because you shouldn't lift heavy things at first and that's something I have to do every day in my job.
No trouble and no problems at all after that. I can eat what I want, no need to take meds or keep to a certain diet.
I was actually quite mad at myself that I didn't do it a lot earlier. Could have saved me lots and lots of pain.
