My brain is still mush from Ms Spooky's rather wonderful birthday bash on Saturday night. I definitely nuked a billion brain cells that night, not to mention talked more crap at more people then I deemed possible. Luckily for me most of the people I was talking to were in a similar state of 'hyperawareness' and probably are too busy cringing inwardly at their own memories to worry too much about anything I may have said *grins*
Actually my weekend was large amounts of fun, most of which I am feeling today. Friday night I saw Muse play live in Bournemouth, with Mark my ex-trainee and The Lodger. The stage show was one of the best I have seen for a very long time. The lead singer has so much energy and his voice is quite awesome. There were also balloons, glitter spray and fantastic video footage. All in all great value for money!
On Saturday, Darth Rich and I went to DreddCon in Oxford. See here for details. Darth Rich had been asked to run the HeroCrack..I mean HeroClix games and wanted some company on the drive. I was more then willing to accompany him given that it gave me an opportunity to meet some of the artists and writers whom I admire greatly.
The Con was absolutely fantabulous. Everyone was so friendly and kind, I got to *meet* Ian Gibson, John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra! *SQUEEEE*
Ian Gibson signed my copy of Halo Jones and drew a sketch in it. Halo Jones for those who don't know is possibly one of the *best* female comic characters ever created. She's realistic and she kicks arse. Go and read the graphic novel if you get the chance. You'll thank me for it. Ian Gibson's artwork is a dream and coupled with Alan Moore's writing you have heaven in comic form.
Carlos Ezquerra is *the* Judge Dredd artist, while John Wagner is one of the finest comic writers bar none. Carlos drew me a Judge Dredd and then signed it off "To the prettiest girl at the Convention". Cue Em going bright pink, spluttering and generally going into uber squeee mode.
I should also hasten to add that I was one of only about three girls *at* the Con. So its not really a comment on my wonderfulness, more that Carlos is an absolute darling and a bit of a tart, as well as being a bloody, amazing artist.
John Wagner then signed Carlos drawing and also called him a tart :)
Other artists I accosted were Simon Williams who did me a wonderful Dexter and also a Nemesis and dealt with my burbling and lunacy with great, good nature, Boo Cook, who I think I broke, with my request to draw me a Nemesis but who nevertheless acquitted himself admirably and Steve Roberts who also drew me a Nemesis and was possibly even more geeky about the subject then me! *grins*
Darth Rich and I were very happy bunnies indeed when we left.
Work is going crazy so I am likely to be a bit quiet for the next week or so. I am still encouraging entries for the Kink!Fic challenge though, so do keep 'em coming. I'll be a bit more organised shortly and start posting some links and the like. I've also got some Master & Commander and Pirates recs to inflict upon the world, along with some HL recs.
In other news it would appear that J-Blow has been back causing outbreaks of extreme boredom and exasperation all round on ODM. This wonderful exchange in the gorgeous
amand_r's LJ, had me in utter hysterics for about 10 minutes this morning and probably tells you everything you need to know about the J-Blo's latest arsery.
For once I'm actually glad I wasn't on-line over the weekend and *much* love and kudos to
tritorella,
amand_r,
crackernuts and
dkwilliams for being so witty it *hurts* both in LJ and on list. Plus *huge* snogs-with-tongue to my darling
lastrega for putting up with J-Blo, being amusing *and* not actually doing an impression of Godzilla on list!
Ladies I salute you,for you verily you *ROCK*
Right then, back to work...

No sulking allowed missy, you had far more fun then me. I'm just trying to fill the vacant hole that is my life while you are off gallivanting with hobbits and wizards and riders of Rohan!
