I got home last night to find that Season 4, 5 and 6 of Highlander had arrived!!

Cue much *squeeing* and general excitement!

The DVD sets are just gorgeous. The first thing I watched was the commentary on 'Chivalry' on Season 4. It had me giggling like a loon. Apparently the actress who plays Kristin wore her own wardrobe for much of that episode which means 'the shortest skirt in the known world' must have been her own! Wow! In the cast interviews, Stan in particular seemed quite 'taken' with the actress. He was actually naked when they were filming the love scene.

Peter looks tan and utterly gorgeous when he's doing his commentary and being able to see the dojo scene in clear dvd quality was a complete delight. *gurgles*

I then went and had a look at Season 5 and much to my utter delight I found they have put on the complete alternate cuts of 'Comes A Horsemen and 'Revelations' including a commentary by Gillian and Donna which is just priceless.

Amongst other things they reveal that it was not fixed that it would always be Cassandra in these episodes but that Ceirdwyn was also considered for the same role. They also mentioned Darius in the same role, which as one of them says, "would add a whole new aspect to the slave idea".

I *so* now want to read an alternative version of CAH and Rev with Darius in Cassandra's role. *grins*

I also *finally* got to see the 'infamous' Methos leaving the Horsemen scene. The wigs really are very bad and also the scene where Kronos is released from the well. Shame they didn't keep that in really, as you get a great shot of Kronos wearing a very short skirt and not much is left to the
imagination!

What interested me most was the fact they had left in so many scenes which were cut for various reasons. Methos is much nastier in these versions. His interaction with Cassandra is more brutal and you get to see alot more of the raid on the nomad's camp. The scene between Cassandra and Kronos is far more graphic and its apparent that she has been in his tent for several hours already.

Most telling was the addition that when Kronos confronts Methos about Cassandra, she actualy speaks up in this cut and tells Methos to make Kronos leave. This raised the inevitable 'shut up you silly woman' comment, but it also made me think that she can't have been that cowed by Methos if
she's prepared to say things like that to him.

Interestingly, later either Gillian or Donna comment on the scene where Methos is talking to Cassandra in the sub base, that "they are both lying to themselves".

Whatever your take on this, it definitely (for me) knocks the Methos is actually a nice person and Kronos made him do it argument into a cocked hat. Bronze Age Methos is definitely not a nice person at all. Cooooool! *grins* Its also pretty clear that Kronos is definitely the one in charge and that Methos is *so* his bitch.

What else, they cut a great scene of Kronos hiding in the shadows and watching Duncan and Cassandra going off together from the first scene where Duncan sees him briefly and then meets Cassandra. Which kinda explains how he knew she was around. Its also made much more explicit that Kronos had come to Seacouver becasue he has heard about the false Methos.

Very interestingly, Donna and Gillian comment that until these episodes they were still toying with two different versions of Methos. One is the version we have and the other with him only being about 100 years old and it all being a lie. *grins*

I could go on, there is loads to comment on, much food for thought, including definite canon proof, as G and D point out, that all immortal buzzes sound the same. In the scene at the end of CAH where Kronos is in the warehouse and Cassandra joins him., he feels the buzz and doesn't know who it is. He assumes its Methos. In the same way, he doesn't know later that its Duncan and none of them realise that Methos is there.

The major squee factor however for me, was for the increased Kronos/Methos dynamic. Loved the extra scene after Kronos has stabbed Methos and there is also a bit where Methos tells Cassandra in the sub base that she shouldn't blame herself as he had tried to kill Kronos and couldn't do it either. This is in reference to the scene where Methos puts Kronos down the well.

I can't wait to watch more, particularly the commentary on 'The Modern Prometheus'. The last thing I saw was the bloopers reel which had me in hysterics. Peter is just adorable in this...*sigh*

Does it show I'm over excited?
