These are from working my way through the bountiful offerings on display at
hl_springfever and The Highlander Lyric Wheel
All the entries for these two challenges are awesome and I suggest you go read them all. Thease are just my particular favourites:
Five Things That Never Happened to Adam Pyersson
enigel. Oh the history buff in me did *SQUEEE* with joy. Absolutely lovely ideas and beautifully executed.
Evil friends songvid and With Kind-ness, Lenity by
elistaire. The songvid is hysterical and the snippet is very Kronos.
Untitled Methos/Duncan by
witt444. Gah! This author just went right up the top of my 'people to stalk-but-in-a-good-way list. *grins* The writing in this is so sharp it flays you. I love the idea of Methos scent changing because of a quickening.
At Villa Diodati by
carenejeans. Yay! Methos/Byron/Goat (well sort of). My OT3! Particularly after going through the bizarre experience of actually asking Adrian Paul in person about the goat in The Modern Prometheus episode at the Highlander Walkabout, only to have him confirm, in so many words, that Byron and Methos were 'into' goats. *snicker*. This story is like the rest of the author's writing, lyrical, witty and emotional. Her Byron voice in this is particularly accurate and I think she should write more of my OT3. I want to know the goat's name!?
Woman in Waiting by
ryenna. This is Tessa/Amanda, its entirely believable and slots itself neatly into the episodes. Very clever and a delightful read.
Untitled Kronos/Byron by
baffledking. I couldn't see how you could make this pairing work but the author did and quite spectacularly too. Kronos is the shark and Byron's leaving a blood trail. I really would like to read more of this.
Waylaid by
killabeez. This is Connor/Matthew McCormick and well it's a Killa story in all ways possible. I have a huge soft spot for Connor and this *rocks*. Go read and then go pester her about this new Horseman story she keeps giving us teasing mention of. *grins*
Old Friends by
unovis_lj. Short, pithy and delightfully self involved. Will leave you hungry and wanting in all sorts of ways.
Matter by
jamwired. Oh I love this one. Darius and Methos together in fic is a definite kink of mine and this story is equal parts funny, wistful, informative and thoughtful. Read it several times and savor the flavour.
My Old Fashioned Boy by Merrie Gail. EEeek! 1920's Methos! *melts* Contains the lines "He's a slightly vicious old thing, he's too many people to get to know in less then 10 years. Seventy or eighty might have worked. Maybe." which I intend to take home with me and cuddle because I love them so much.
Day? Lousy by
elistaire. Okay I fucking nearly hurt myself laughing at this one. Awesome and I grovel in an unworthy fashion at the author's feet.
This Love by Jay Tryfanstone. Dear Gods can this author get any better? Every time I think she can't she surpasses herself again. This story is just, well, perfect. I can't describe it, really you need to go read this now.
Solitas by my beauteous
beeej. This is Methos thinking and it's *my* Methos thinking as well, so I adore this story. The author (who I also adore but for entirely different reasons) manages to convey a whole sweep of emotions without being maudlin. Pastel shades of regret. I loves it.
Two-Eyed Jack by Laura Mason. Not slash but possibly one of the best alternative viewpoints for 'One Minute To Midnight' it has been my pleasure to read. I salute the author.
Faith by Westwind. Another favourite author producing yet another shiny for me to hoard. I love this Methos. He's ever so slightly unbalanced, dangerous, bizarre and totally adorable. Can I have him?
The German Doctor by
mcjude. One of many reasons for 'Chivalry'. Well thought out, nicely paced and an enjoyable read. Who could ask for more!?
Double Trouble, Double Joy by
ev_vy my glorious Pic!Bitch. I actually meant to put this in my previous recs post but then ran out of time. This is two Methos for the price of one and how can that not be a good thing! Teasing, shadowy, slightly odd and thoroughly satisfying.
That's all for the moment folks. Hope you enjoy these and don't forget to feedback the authors.
