Wow! You know you've *arrived* in a fandom when you get accused of being in a clique!

So a big hand please for the lovely Ms [personal profile] mckrycek who unmasked herself as the Anonymous poster I mentioned previously and then proceeded to leave this adoring love letter as a reply thus proving once again that absolutely everyone wants to have sex with me as well as the fact that I am 'teh EVIL' and you should all grovel in fear and awe at my feet!

Now that I have reached this pinnacle of achievement in fandom I shall of course expect everyone to address me as Ser Evil Dr Em (none of this Evil Drem nonsense) and then make the sign of the horns as a show of respect.

I shall also set up my own private moderated mailing list where I shall forbid anyone to even *think* the name of mine enemies in the FAQ and shall hide my fic in a password protected archive (the password of which I shall change whenever the moon is in Aries) so that only those I deem suitably sycophantic and worthy can read it.

*Mwahahahahahaha*

I'd argue that the choice you're making (whether or not to archive) is a form of editorial control

I suppose it is, in that way - i don't edit (and never would) individuals stories, and if I archive an author, subject to my webhost's legal controls, I don't say what they can't have. But as for an author's entire ouevre - especially when that ouevre (a) reeks and (b) requires me to spend a shit load of time formatting each fucking offering? Not doing that for people I don't really like, not any more.

Ah, right. I see where we were talking at cross purposes. I'm most used to academic publishing, where an editorial board decides whether or not to publish an article. The editorial board is distinct from the editorial staff (subeditors, mostly) who correct our speeling mistaeks and turn our lumpen prose into poetry. Or something like that.

Generally, life is too short to correct other people's writing, and the gains are minimal.
